Fees

Resolving family disagreements, whether it is for a structured separation, an ongoing spousal dispute or marital reconciliation, it most often is a time consuming process.

Family Mediation and Separation Consultation are services where both spouses are expected to pay for their services. One of the first things that will be discussed in the orientation, before you have incurred any cost, is how the fees will be split by the parties and how they will be handled. Every family's situation is different and how they choose to divide or pay for the services is unique to their circumstances.

Defining, developing, and implementing a Structured Separation plan is a significant amount of work. We will be meeting jointly and individually, communicating through e-mail and telephone. Our work is expected to be over a minimum of a 12 month period. There will be a momentous amount of effort and time in the first few months and then reduce down over the next many months and increase again as we get towards the end of the 12 month period. One of the most unpredictable components of constructing a structured separation was the cost. My belief is that a successful plan should not be influenced by limiting hours, just to control costs. Acceptable outcomes for a structured separation do not happen in one session. As long as the participants keep working in good faith and towards solving problems and finding solutions, for the 12 month set period of time - as many joint sessions, individual sessions, telephone calls, and e-mail correspondences as it takes to implement the plans, I will continue to work with the clients - all for one fixed fee.
